Minister of communications, Adebayo Shittu said the government is prepared to encourage investors to market their products in Nigeria and create jobs for the teeming youth
The Nigerian government has appealed to TECNO Mobile to establish a production factory in the country, to serve the 200 million Nigerians and the West Africa sub-region as well as create jobs.
Dr Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications, made this appeal last week during the 2018 Global Spring Launch held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
"I want to appeal to TECNO Mobile that we are ready to partner with you. We will assist you in every way possible to encourage you".
"Government is prepared to encourage investors to market their products in Nigeria and more especially, establish production plants for such products within the country to service the West African sub-region and create jobs for our teeming youth."
"May I also, seize this opportunity to invite investors to partner with our higher institutions to open laboratories for the refining of essential mineral resources as well as training of suitable individuals on the production of accessories, parts, components etc, to grow our local content and material for the production sector.”
"This will encourage new businesses to emerge and reduce the production cost of the final products." the Minister said.
He acknowledged government’s failings in the past and its inability to provide an enabling environment for investors to set up locally.
Stephen Ha, General Manager, TECNO Mobile, while speaking said the brand is willing to look into setting up local production lines in Nigeria and further highlighted a couple of bottlenecks in the process.
