Senator Foster Ogola has been accused of having fake credentials from an unaccredited university in Nigeria.
A Senator on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Foster Ogola, has been enmeshed in certificate scandal.
Ogola, 63, represents Bayelsa West Senatorial district of Bayelsa state in the Senate.
According to Leaks Nigeria, Ogola has fake credentials from an unaccredited university in Nigeria.
“Senator Foster Ogola has a fake PhD. His official profile on the NASS Website says he has a PhD from GMF Christian University. There is no official site for the university and it is not accredited by the NUC. There is also no research paper or thesis to his name online. Although he got the degree in 2012,” the report alerted.
Ogola’s profile on the official website of the National Assembly says the senator has a PhD in ‘Christian Leadership’ from the GMF Christian University Lagos.
The Bayelsa lawmaker reportedly has an MSc. in from the Imo State University, Owerri.
NUC doesn’t know GMF University
When contacted, on the validity of the institution, the director of National University Commission (NUC), Ibrahim Yakassi, denied knowledge of the school.
“We have never heard of that name,” he said.
GMF Christian University was also missing from a list of 57 illegal universities operating i n the country neither was it listed among registered higher institutions of learning in Nigeria.
The director also said that since 1999, the NUC has approved 74 private universities in the country and "any certificate obtained from the GMF Christian University or any other degree mill will not be recognised by their authority.”
The institution also does not have a website offering information on the institution or its courses or any information on the Christian Leadership course the embattled senator purports to have a PhD in.
Melaye's certificate forgery
Senator Dino Melaye was accused of forging his degree certificate from the Geography department of Ahmadu Bello University by online news platform, SaharaReporters in March 2017.
Senator Melaye was summoned, alongside the vice chancellor of the institution who cleared the Kogi lawmaker of the allegation.

Also, Anambra lawmaker, Andy Uba was accused of forging his West African Examination Council result from secondary school.
