Watch Mariah Carey, JoJo, & Teyana Taylor Perform at ‘VH1 Divas Holiday’ Mp4 Download
“VH1 Divas” triumphantly returned from a four-year hiatus on Monday (Dec. 5) by delivering Christmas cheer in the form of a holiday special, “Unsilent Night.”
With well-established divas like Mariah Carey, Patti LaBelle, and Chaka Khan, as well as newcomers like Teyana Taylor, JoJo, and Bebe Rexha, “VH1 Divas Holiday: Unsilent Night” lived up to its name.
Mariah opened the show with “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” a holiday staple since its release in 1994. Emerging from and slaying in a sleigh, Carey stunned in a sequined toy soldier outfit while chiseled toy soldiers danced, stomped, and froze around her.
Introduced by model and host Ashley Graham, JoJo, Bebe Rexha, and Serayah performed Darlene Love’s “All Alone on Christmas.” Dressed in all gold, the trio delivered a soulful rendition of the track, with a little bit of pop/rock seasoning.
It was a multi-genre event, as evidenced by Remy Ma’s appearance. The rap diva, who’s had an impressive 2016 with the Grammy-nominated “All the Way Up,” emerged in full Run-DMC regalia, including a gold rope chain and black leather jacket, to perform a portion of the legendary group’s “Christmas in Hollis.”
While hip-hop played a supporting role, much of the “Divas” focus was on soulful renditions of holiday classics. With an intro from La La Anthony, Teyana Taylor showed that off again with a rousing performance of Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby.” Dressed in a body-hugging white outfit and red leather corset, TT sang the seductive track with the same confidence she had while dancing in Kanye West’s “Fade” video, writhing on the stage with giant Christmas presents around her.
Legendary divas also came through to wow the crowd with a show-stopping medley. It included Chaka Khan performing “Ain’t Nobody” and a Chaka/Patti LaBelle duet of Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” Finally, nearly all of the divas united on stage to close out the show with Khan’s “I’m Every Woman.”
